800 premium VR titles will soon be available to stream on the Vive Focus Plus.

The 2019 ChinaJoy digital entertainment expo kicked-off with a bang this morning with HTC’s announcement of VIVEPORT streaming, a new feature heading to the VR games platform that will allow Vive headsets users to wirelessly stream high-quality VR games directly from a VR-ready gaming PC over Wi-Fi.

Beginning at $12.99 per month or $8.99 with annual billing, VIVEPORT Infinity offers subscribers access to 2,000 VR games and apps; 800 of which are available to stream wirelessly over a 5Ghz Wi-Fi network.

“5G Cloud VR has been a hot topic in the press recently, and in one to two years, after the 5G network is more robust, it will provide a new way for users to experience high-quality VR without the need for a high-end PC. Until then, the new VIVEPORT Streaming capability being announced today will enable VR users to enjoy countless premium PC VR experiences on their standalone VR devices without the need for a wire,” said Alvin Wang Graylin, China President, HTC, in an official release.

“PC VR streaming as a concept is not new, but having the PC and the Vive Focus Plus complete the full complex network connection automatically and providing a seamless UI to starting any VR content on the linked PC from inside the VR device makes the experience a real breakthrough.”

According to HTC, VIVEPORT Streaming will begin available first on the Vive Focus Plus 6DoF standalone VR headset in early Q4 of this year, with plans to expand to other devices running on the Vive Wave open platform; hopefully, this means support for the yet-to-be-released Vive Cosmos. Those curious as to the quality of these streaming experiences can try out VIVEPORT Streaming for themselves at ChinaJoy 2019 today through Monday.

Also present at the event is the new and improved VIVEPORT Video Player complete with “6DoF Light” technology. This new breakthrough in immersive entertainment allows users to physically move up to one meter in any direction in both new and existing 3DoF 360-degree and VR180 videos.

ChinaJoy 2019 is open now until August 5th at the Shanghai New International Expo Centre in Shanghai.
