It’s not long until you’ll get to sink your blades into Until You Fall. Until then, though, you can enjoy this launch trailer for the game.
This footage tells you much more about Schell Games’ latest than the first trailer did. It gives us a much better look at the melee combat at the core of the game. Creating convincing blade battles is one of VR’s trickiest challenges right now. Schell’s approach is to use directional indicators, dash moves and dual-wielding for high octane battles.
Until You Fall is a sort of roguelike game. You take a run at a gauntlet of enemies with every life and start over each time you die. Over the course of play sessions, you can permanently upgrade your weapons, helping you get further and further with each battle. The game will release in Early Access, where Schell intends to add new weapon types, additional enemies and more.
If you like what you see then there’s plenty more where that came from. We streamed Until You Fall yesterday and have tons of gameplay footage right here.
Excited? You don’t have long to wait. Until You Fall releases in Early Access on August 27 with support for Oculus Rift and HTC Vive. You can wishlist it right here. No word on official Valve Index support just yet, nor the chances of PSVR and Quest ports. Then again, Schell will probably need to spend some time fleshing out the Early Access content before ports are possible.
